"Wild Boars Tear-up the Campus"

My thoughts:

Okay so I found this article interesting (quoted below). Some of my friends have been approached by teams of 6 and 9 wild boars at once. Despite the seriousness and possible risk of these encounters I still found the article a bit funny! I'm terrible, I know!

"A boar-ing problem - Sanglier in French. Wild boar in English. Whatever you call them, they are the talk of the Fontainebleau campus these days. And for good reason. While you probably won’t see one – unless you go out walking after midnight - you can’t help but notice their presence.

Wherever you look these days, our beautiful green lawn has been dug up by these omnivorous nocturnal creatures who come out of the surrounding forest at night looking for a midnight snack – fallen fruit or nuts, worms, even food provided by generous but misguided local benefactors.

With the end of summer and the approach of winter, there is less food available in the forest for the currently fast-growing population of sanglier, which is attracted to the campus by the easy availability of food.

And our campus is not alone. Homes, businesses and other institutions in the town of Fontainebleau have also suffered the ravages of these midnight ramblers.

A wire fence encloses the campus on three sides. But there is no fencing on the side that parallels the main road, only hedging. Despite the best efforts of campus security officers who regularly patrol the campus perimeter, the wild boars still manage to get in.

So what’s to be done? Surrounding the campus entirely with fencing has been proposed but is not in line with our conception of an open campus. However campus residents can help keep the wild boars away by making sure they close the gates and by not feeding them, which attracts more of them and so causes even more destruction.

To control the growing sanglier population, the Office National des Forêts is organising a ‘battue’, or wild boar hunt, one at the beginning of October before hunting season opens and one at the beginning of November."

So right now, I'm indulging in a chocolate croissant type dessert. I convinced myself that after a long walk 3 days in a row, I deserved an entire dessert bread thingy. This afternoon I don't feel like doing much (getting bored of organizing photos day in and day out). So, I'll do my toe nails outside then maybe do some sodoku. What a lazy fart i am!! That's not entirely true... but today, pretty accurate.
